Grizzly Volleyball announces 'Gang Green' Student Fan Club
First 100 ASU students to sign up to receive free T-Shirt, pizza
ALAMOSA, Colo.— Adams State University students can receive a free t-shirt and pizza after every home regular season volleyball match this season as the Grizzly volleyball squad has launched “Gang Green”, a student fan club initiative.
The first 100 students to join the club will receive a free t-shirt, which they should wear to each match. After working up an appetite by cheering, the club members will receive free post-match pizza.
“We want to create a better and more exciting atmosphere for the student-athletes and fans,” said Grizzly head coach Lindy Mortensen. “What’s more fun than being part of a rowdy fan club,” she added.
“With your help, we can create the loudest, craziest fan group in the RMAC.”
To join, ASU students should contact ASU Athletic Marketing & Promotions intern Kelsie Kruger by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by leaving a message at 719-587-8237. Interested students should leave Kruger with their email address, cell phone number and T-shirt size preference.
The 2011 edition of the Grizzly squad won a share of the RMAC West Division title last year and returns six starters to this year’s squad, which has been picked to win the West Division.
The Grizzlies will host their fifth annual Alumni Match on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. A sign-up table for “Gang Green” will be available at that event. The Grizzlies’ first home regular season home match is Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. against Colorado Mesa.
The Grizzlies have nine regular season home matches on the 2012 slate, all of which begin at 7 p.m. in Plachy Hall.
In 2011, the Grizzlies average attendance was 458, the second best mark in the RMAC. Only now departed RMAC member Nebraska-Kearney averaged more.
