Grizzlies Women's Soccer Squad Picked 10th in RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Adams State University women’s soccer team was picked to finish 10th place, according to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's coaches' poll

The Grizzlies are coming off a 4-8-2 conference record in 2011 with a 7-9-2 overall record. ASU returns five starters from last seasons squad, now coached by Doris Sullivan.

Leading the RMAC in the coaches' poll is Colorado Mines with six first place votes. Regis follows the Orediggers in second with four first place votes.

Following from third to ninth place respectively in the poll's order is Fort Lewis, Metro State, Colorado Mesa, New Mexico Highlands, UC-Colorado Springs, CSU-Pueblo and Colorado Christian.

This Saturday, the Grizzlies play a scrimmage at Otero Junior College with a 7 p.m. start.

The regular season opens for the Grizzlies on August 30 at Western State. Although Western State is a member of the RMAC, the match will not count toward the conference standings since the Mountaineers start their first season of women's soccer. The match will be the first for the ASU women's soccer program under university status. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Grizzlies' RMAC schedule opens Sept. 14 at Colorado Christian at 3:30 p.m.
