ALAMOSA – For the fourth straight week in a row, Adams State University football team will be a part of a homecoming, this time on the road at Dixie State University in St. George, Utah. This is the fifth homecoming matchup this season for the Grizzlies.
Â
Chad Hovasse is on history watch, as the junior has moved to just three catches from tying Tom Stevens for the all-time career reception mark at Adams State. After two stellar weeks of 26 catches for 275 yards and three touchdowns, Hovasse is on a roll that hasn't been duplicated in Adams State history. His 14 catches two weeks ago is a school record, while his 12 would have tied the great Chris Perry, the man Hovasse is chasing in career touchdown receptions and yards. Another mark to watch in Perry's single-season record. In 1995, Perry caught 88 balls for more than 1,700 yards and 21 touchdowns. Hovasse has 63 catches with three games remaining.
Â
Corey Brown returns to the gridiron for the Grizzlies, at the perfect time as well as Dixie State has let up 230 yards rushing per game and more than five yards per carry this season. On the other side of the defense, the Trailblazers have allowed only 145 yards passing this season. The senior running back for the Grizz is averaging more than five yards per carry and 85 yards per game rushing this season.
Â
While Dixie has allowed 20 rushing touchdowns this season, they have only let up six passing touchdowns. The strong secondary for the Trailblazers will be tested against the second-ranked passing attack in the nation that has 24 passing touchdowns this season.
Â
Offensively, Dixie has five backs that have carried the ball more than 40 times this season. Their quarterback Malik Watson averages nearly 200 yards per game throwing, while running back duo Sei Lauago and Jeffrey Coprich both have more than 80 carries for a combined 812 yards and five touchdowns.
