One of the best football teams to grace Alamosa and Adams State is enshrined. Not only did the 1966 ASU Indians football team finish the season with an 8-2 record, but they also had one of the best defensive teams in ASU history.

The Grizzly defense held defenders to 87 rushing yards per game (2.2 rushing yards per carry) and 8.9 points per game.

Members of the team included seven All-American selections, six NFL Draft selections, and now six Hall of Fame inductees, including ASU Hall of Famer Bill Rakow, ASU Hall of Famer and former NFL Player Don Cockroft, and Ken Walters, who had the first 1,000-yard rushing season in ASU history.1966 Roster1966 Football Teanm
