As a student-athlete for Adams State, Katelyn Lovato was known for her ability to frustrate opposing pitchers and hitters with her speed on the base paths and patrolling center field. As the lone unanimous selection, Lovato has a resume to back up her selection.
Lovato is in the NCAA Division II record book for several accolades. She holds the NCAA Division II record for consecutive games with a hit at 40 which she amassed from March 6, 2010, to February 12, 2011. She currently sits at No. 8 in the NCAA Division II career triples list with 30, No. 17 in the NCAA Division II in career hits with 321 and No. 19 in the NCAA Division II career batting average list with a .481.
She led the NCAA Division II in hits (100) and triples (9) in 2011 and in 2012 she led the country with 11 triples.
The four-time All-RMAC First Team selection as also a three-time Preseason and regular season RMAC Player of the Year selection. She was also a four-time Easton All-American, Daktronics All-Region and All-America selection in addition to a two-time Capital One All-Academic Team selection and a two-time NFCA All-America selection. The 2010 RMAC Freshman of the Year also garnered several RMAC and NFCA Player of the Week honors.
As for the Adams State record book, Lovato's name is on almost all the pages. She is atop the record book in career batting average (.481), most at bats in a career (668), most career runs scored (195), most career hits (321), most career triples (30) and most career total bases (459).
She also sits at No. 7 in career slugging percentage (.687), No. 3 in career on base percentage (.520), No. 6 in career games played (183), No. 3 in career games started (183), No. 5 in most career doubles (36), No. 2 in most career stolen bases (89) and No. 2 in most career stolen base attempts (102).
In the single season record book, Lovato has four of the top ten marks in batting average (.523 in 2010 at No. 2; .488 in 2011 at No. 5; .464 in 2013 at No. 6; .448 in 2012 at No. 9), three in the top ten marks for on base percentage, No. 2 in most at bats for a season (205 in 2011), two in the top ten for most runs scored, four in the top ten on hits with 100 in 2011 being the school record by seven.
