  • Averaged more than 20 points per game as a junior in 1966-67
  • Scored 1,283 points in 1964-68 career despite playing before the 3-point shot was around
  • Regarded as long-bomb and free throw shooting threat
  • Also ran track for Dr. Joe I. Vigil for three years
  • Native of Alamosa and 1964 Alamosa High School graduate
  • Was a prep All-American
  • Earned bachelor’s degree in education in 1968 and master’s in 1974
  • Taught and coached at Center and Texhoma, Okla. taking both teams schools to state tournaments
  • Returned to ASC as a graduate assistant coach for Loren Lutz in 1973-74
  • Also taught at Windsor before moving into administration as principal and superintendent in both parts of Texhoma as well as Guymon, Okla.
  • Is the Mayor of Texhoma, Texas
  • Met wife Kathy, who also attended ASC, while in high school
  • Couple has four children, 10 grandchildren
  • Kathy was also a teacher and principal in her career
