  • Set a new national record at the time
  • Later ran 2:18.28 in the marathon to qualify for the 1980 U.S. Olympic Trials
  • That mark was a school-record and is believed to be the fastest ever run by an undergraduate college runner in the nation
  • Enrolled at ASC in Fall of 1979 after transferring from Saginaw Valley State (Mich.)
  • Had been the NAIA National Marathon Champion there in 1978
  • Met ASC Coach, Dr. Joe I. Vigil at the NAIA National Championship Cross Country Championships that fall
  • Was the fifth man on ASC’s 1979 National Cross Country Championship Team
  • Graduated from ASC in 1981 with a degree in business
  • Has gone on to a successful business career in Colorado Springs
  • Met his wife Teri at ASC.
  • The couple has been married for 29 years and have two sons
  • Son Tyler, 24, is in the Army as a helicopter pilot stationed at Fort Rucker, Ala.
  • Trevor, 23, owns his own landscaping business in Colorado Springs
