Adams State Program Information

ALAMOSA, Colo. (November 10, 2015) – The 2015 season comes to an end on Saturday as Adams State University hosts Colorado School of Mines. The conference tilt also serves as senior day for the program. Both teams enter with losing streaks. ASU has fallen the past two weeks while CSM has gone winless in the past three games. Live coverage can be found at the links above.

Last Time Out For ASU
ASU fell 51-10 to Fort Lewis College on Nov. 7 during the 49th annual Musket Game in Durango. Despite the loss, ASU still holds a 34-15-1 edge in the trophy series. The Grizzlies amassed 252 yards of total offense as the Skyhawks countered with 410 yards of total offense highlighted by 248 yards rushing.

Fort Lewis tallied four rushing touchdowns; including two in the opening quarter that placed ASU in an early 14-0 hole. The Skyhawks' lead expanded to 21-0 before a Zach Cimaglia 42-yard field goal put the Grizzlies on the board late in the second quarter. However, FLC tacked on a 48-yard field goal before the break for a 24-3 halftime lead.

Fort Lewis continued to distance themselves in the third with 13 unanswered points as ASU still searched for a touchdown. The drought ended on the team's first series of the fourth as Johnny Feauto connected with Phil Romero on a 28-yard touchdown throw. The Skyhawks added two more touchdowns after that to produce a final score of 51-10.

About The Orediggers
After beginning the season 7-0, CSM has dropped their last three games. The downward spiral began with a 49-21 loss at Colorado State University-Pueblo. The Orediggers then fell to Colorado Mesa University and Western State Colorado University. The plummet has moved CSM from being ranked seventh in the country to now being unranked in the latest AFCA Coaches Poll.

Under quarterback Justin Dvorak, the Orediggers' offense ranks first in the RMAC and third nationally with 536.2 yards per game. Individually, Dvorak is third at the NCAA DII level in passing yards per game (330.2) and passing yards (3,302). He has thrown for 4+ touchdowns during six games, including a season-high 8 touchdown throws in the season opener against South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. The Orediggers are coached by Gregg Brandon who is in his first season.

Last We Met
In the 2014 season finale ASU fell 49-34 to the Orediggers from the North Area Athletic Complex. With the win, Mines clinched at least a share of the 2014 RMAC Football Championship and improved to 10-1, 8-1 RMAC.

With both teams battling through snowy conditions, the Grizzlies held a brief 7-6 lead after a 20-yard Denzel McCullum touchdown reception from Auston Hillman early in the first quarter. The strength of the Orediggers was quickly realized as Mines responded with 22 unanswered points. CSM's potent offensive arsenal accomplished this feat with three quick drives—none of which elapsed more than 1:14 off the clock. The up-tempo Mines regime resulted in a 28-7 deficit for Adams State going into halftime.

The Grizzlies went on to outscore the Orediggers after halftime, 27-21, but were unable to complete the comeback. Despite throwing for a game-high 337 yards, Dvorak was picked off three times during the 2014 meeting. The game also marked Marty Heaton's final time pacing the sidelines as ASU's head coach.

New Year, New Gear
Unveiled for 2015 is a white matte finish helmet as well as a traditional green helmet that has been used in recent seasons. The biggest change comes in the form of the official Adams State U-Paw decal that is prominently displayed on both. Under the Schutt brand, both styles incorporate a green facemask with "Grizz" written on the nose bumper. Adams State last wore white helmets during the 1970's before switching to green.

Both helmets not only incorporate a new style but an upgrade in student-athlete safety by switching to the Schutt Vengeance VTD II and Schutt AiR XP Pro VTD helmet models. Both models have been evaluated and given the highest rating possible (5-Stars) according to Virginia Tech helmet ratings.

Introducing Your Team Captains
Adams State University head coach Timm Rosenbach has announced captains for the 2015 season.
