ALAMOSA, Colo. (November 14, 2015) – Adams State University's 2015 season came to an end Saturday with a 52-28 defeat against Colorado School of Mines. The program concludes the season with a 3-8 overall record and a 3-6 conference mark.
Behind 602 yards of total offense, the Orediggers jumped out to a 21-7 first quarter lead. Colorado Mines continued to pile on with 24 points in the second quarter, resulting in a 45-14 CSM lead at the break. The offensive heavy opening half of play concluded with 8 combined touchdowns between the two conference foes. Furthermore, 5 of those scores came through the air.
On their opening possession the Grizzlies were able to find the end zone to tie the game at 7-7, however, ASU was unable to keep pace with CSM's third-ranked offensive unit in the country.
With only one Orediggers touchdown to represent scoring in the third, the Grizzlies tacked on two of their own in the fourth.
For the game, quarterback
Johnny Feauto went 10-of-20 from the pocket for 163 yards and three touchdowns. Feauto completed passes to five different receivers led by
Chad Hovasse's game-high 110 yards on 4 receptions. Hovasse also added a touchdown in the season finale. Receiver
Phil Romero concluded his junior campaign with two touchdowns and 63 yards receiving.
Addie Brown added 40 yards rushing on 18 carries.
Linebacker
John Reed tallied a game-high 16 tackles as
Daniel Paponetti finished with 12.
Justin Dvorak led the Orediggers with 382 yards passing and four touchdowns. Sam Seeton led the ground attack with 145 yards rushing and three touchdowns.
