Last Time Out For ASU
Adams State fell 42-7 on the road to Colorado School of Mines on Nov. 5th from Marv Kay Stadium. The Grizzlies (1-8, 1-8 RMAC) won the possession battle (36:11) but struggled in the redzone with just one score on four trips. Meanwhile, the Orediggers (8-2, 7-2 RMAC) thrived in the redzone with six scores on as many attempts. The Grizzlies produced their lone touchdown of the game on their first drive of the third quarter. The 11 play, 75 yard drive was capped off by a three yard touchdown pass from Hernandez to Addie BrownMontana Gomez's PAT attempt was good.

Jorge Hernandez concluded the day 32-of-52 for 269 yards passing with a touchdown and interception. Chad Hovasse had a game-high 13 receptions for 132 yards. Addie Brown and Corey Brown handled a bulk of the team's rushing attack. Addie Brown gained 59 yards off 11 carries while Corey Brown gained 49 yards off 9 carries. John Land led the Grizzly defense with 11 tackles as Tim Brown Jr. and Jamal Jennings adding 7 tackles apiece.

Making An Impact
Evan Ford provided a spark early in the second quarter as the sophomore picked off CSM's Justin Dvorak and returned the ball 12 yards to the CSM 34-yard line. It was the first collegiate interception for Ford who also picked up 4 tackles.

RMAC Leaders
John Reed enters his final collegiate game ranked second in the RMAC with 9.4 tackles per game. His 85 total tackles ranks fifth. Jorge Hernandez ranks second in the RMAC in passing yards/game and total offense. Chad Hovasse and Phil Romero rank second and third, respectively, in receptions per game. Hovasse is second in receiving yards/game with Romero ranked fifth. Demari Reynolds holds an RMAC-best 4 forced fumbles as Wesley Brandon is tied for second place with 3.

About The Cowboys
New Mexico Highlands is searching for their first win since week 10 of last season when they defeated Black Hills State University, 40-31. In 2016, the Cowboys rank last in the RMAC in scoring offense (8.5 ppg.), total offense (265.7 yards/game), scoring defense (55.9 ppg allowed), and total defense (594.9 yards/game allowed). However, the Cowboys rank third in pass defense and interceptions. The team has the RMAC's leading tackler in Eric Smith who has 113 total tackles. The program is under the direction of head coach Jeff Mills in his second season.

Last We Met
A 14 play, 80 yard touchdown drive in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter propelled Adams State to a 17-14 win over New Mexico Highlands on Saturday afternoon. It marked the first road win in 2015 for the Grizzlies who trailed 13-10 at halftime before completing their comeback against the Cowboys.
After a combined six punts during the second and third quarters, the Grizzlies mounted their game-winning drive thanks to a pair of costly NMHU penalties and two fourth down conversions. Facing fourth-and-15, Chad Hovasse hauled in a 26-yard gain to move ASU to midfield. Four plays later ASU faced another fourth down situation but an 11-yard reception by Phil Romero kept hope alive.

The Grizzlies quickly entered the red zone thanks to a double reverse play with Addie Brown on the receiving end of a 30-yard throw. The trick play pushed ASU to the 8 yard line. With momentum clearly on their side the Grizzlies reached paydirt with a 6-yard touchdown strike to Romero with 42 seconds remaining.

Introducing Your Team Captains
The Grizzlies turn to a group of five student-athletes in 2016 with the designation of team captain. Wide receiver Chad Hovasse and lineman Addison Farmer were tabbed offensive captains. Meanwhile, linebackers John Land and John Reed alongside defensive back Demari Reynolds earned captain status amongst defensive players.

Program To Represent San Luis Valley With Helmet Decal
Head Coach Timm Rosenbach has announced the addition of an SLV decal on the back of each helmet to signify the San Luis Valley's importance to the Adams State football program.

"We wanted to do something to represent where we live not just where we go to school." Rosenbach said of the new decal, "The people of the San Luis Valley provide us with great fan support and are extremely active in Grizzly Club. We are their team and the new decal shows our appreciation for all they do."

The decal will be displayed on the white matte helmet and the traditional green helmet. The SLV decal marks the second consecutive season of uniform upgrades for the program. Prior to the 2015 season, the Grizzlies ushered in their white matte helmet, a gray alternative jersey, and upgrades to their traditional home and away jerseys. The assortment of new gear has allowed the program to utilize different uniform combinations on a game-by-game basis.
