ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Adams State women's soccer team was defeated in their season finale by the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves on Saturday afternoon by a score of 7-2. The Grizzlies final record drops to 2-16 overall and 1-13 in conference play.
The Thunderwolves ran away with the victory in the second half to win, 7-2. Lakyn Koss scored quickly to give the Thunderwolves an early lead with an assist by Mackenzie Bean in the 2nd minute. The Grizzlies answered back in the 8th minute after a free kick led to a Kendall Weld goal. Weld sent a low line drive that evaded the goalkeeper for her third goal of the season. Mackenzie Bean followed up with a goal of her own in the 9th minute. Bean scored on a curved shot from 30 yards out to give the Thunderwolves the lead. Before the end of the first period, Hannah Andreson scored her third goal of the season for the Thunderwolves to push the lead to three. During the first half, the Thunderwolves outshot the Grizzlies, 10-4.
The second half began with a goal for the Thunderwolves as Laikyn Koss drilled a shot off of Corri Zaiger's hands for her second goal of the day. The Thunderwolves continued to push the pace with another goal from Mackenzie Bean in the 50th minute. Madison Jepperson found the back of the net in the 75th minute to push the Thunderwolves lead to 6-1. Summer Hatch scored the Thunderwolves final goal in the 81st minute. Kendall Weld scored her second goal of the day and final goal in a Grizzlies uniform in the 88th minute with a booming line drive to cut the lead to 7-2. The Thunderwolves held onto the lead for the victory.
Six Grizzlies finished the game with at least one shot. The Grizzlies totaled seven shots for the game with five on goal.
