Grizzlies Suffer Hard Fought Loss in Season Closer

ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Adams State Men's Soccer team finished its season against Colorado Mesa Saturday morning. The Grizzlies were defeated by the Mavericks in Saturday's match. Despite the loss, the Grizzlies showed great perseverance in the match.

 

The first goal of the match was scored by Colorado Mesa in the first minute of action. Lawan Abary hit a line drive towards the back of the net for the Mavericks. The Grizzlies played great defense throughout the rest of the half. Adams State went into halftime trailing Colorado Mesa, 1-0.

 

In the first minute of the second half Colorado Mesa's Lawan Abary broke away into the open field for his second goal of the match. The Grizzlies now trailing 2-0 needed to hold the Mavericks offense from scoring. Adams State did a great job at playing defense the rest of the match. The team only allowed another goal by virtue of a penalty kick by Ross Elliott from Colorado Mesa.

 

The final score was Colorado Mesa, 3 and Adams State, 0. Despite the loss, the Grizzlies showed toughness throughout the entire match. Adams State was in the match, but a couple shots just missed the back of the net.

 

Adams State recorded more saves than Colorado Mesa in the match, 8-4. The match was Adams State's final match of the season. The Grizzlies are showing great promise for the next season.
