ALAMOSA - The Adams State University baseball team (2-44, 2-30 RMAC) took its final home game of the season to extra innings Sunday but fell just short against visiting New Mexico Highlands University. Tied after nine, the Cowboys scored two in the 10
th to close it out 12-10.

Highlands would pull away quick with a 4-0 lead through three and a half innings. In the bottom of the fourth, Adams State would get on the board with an
Orlando Romer homer.
Justin Zamora would bat in another with a double to center field to close the gap to 2-4. The Cowboys would bat in two more before the Grizzlies went on an 8-0 run heading into the seventh. After scoring one in the seventh, the visitors tied things up in the eighth due to some costly defensive plays. The score would remain at 10 all until the 10
th when Luis Ornelas batted in two for the go ahead win for Highlands.

Tyson Zanski had a huge game with five RBI's, two hits, and two runs scored.
Orlando Romero added another two RBI's, two hits, and two runs. Luis Ornelas had four RBI's, three hits, and one run for Highlands. Â

The team will end its season on the road for a series with Colorado State-Pueblo next weekend. Â
