DENVER, Colo. – Despite being swept this weekend, Adams State University softball team is heading to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament this Thursday. The team fell to MSU-Denver in four games, but secured the seventh-seed for the tournament and will take on Colorado Christian University Thursday at 10:45 a.m.

The Grizzlies struggled to hit against the Roadrunners in all but game three, losing game one by a score of 0-4 with just a pair of hits. Game two had three hits and three runs as the Grizzlies fell 3-11, while game four had a pair of hits and one run with a score of 1-9. The only closely contested matchup was game three in which Adams had seven hits, but could only muster three runs and fell 3-9.

Alyssa Berteaux-Solorzano was the only Grizzly with multiple hits in a game, going two-for-three with a run and an RBI in game three. Game three was the only game in which the Grizzlies had extra-base hits, led by
April Riggins and
Taya McWilliams doubles.

With the weekend behind them the Grizzlies are prepping for this weekend's tournament. Game one will be against the second-ranked team in the conference, Colorado Christian. The team fell in four games to them on the road two weeks ago, but saw life in day two with a single-game run and a four-run game.

With a win against Christian, Adams will take the rest of Thursday off and take on the winner of Regis and UCCS Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. If the Grizzlies fall the team will take on the loser of that game Thursday afternoon at 5:30 p.m.
