ALAMOSA – Adams State University softball team fell to the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Sunday to bring the series to 1-3. With the loss Adams falls to 10-14 in conference play. Despite this the team still sits sixth in the league. Adams travels to take on the second-best team in the conference in Colorado Christian this upcoming weekend.
Â
Game one Sunday looked to be a good one, as the Grizzlies posted four runs in the first inning. The scoring kicked off with
Tyler Hays with an RBI to bring Madison Shawver home.
April Riggins would post a sacrifice fly to bring Hays home, then Stephanie Huff put up a two-run triple to post the early lead.
Â
The next half of an inning is one the Grizzlies want to forget quickly, as they allowed six runs in the inning. Four of the runs came by way of two homeruns, while the other two were a single and a wild pitch advance.
Â
Adams would fail to cross home plate again, allowing the game to get out of hand with a final score of 13-4.
Â
Game two was a less eventful one, with UCCS putting up the first run in the first. Adams would tie it up off of a Hays RBI, but couldn't take the lead with a runner on third. UCCS would retake the lead in the fourth and not look back.
Â
Hits were hard to come by for Adams, as Hays was the only Grizzly to post more than a single hit the two games Sunday.
