Grizzlies Fall From Mile High City

Denver, Colo. - The Adams State Women's soccer team traveled to the Mile High City for a Friday night matchup against Metro State for what would end in the fourth shut-out loss for the Grizzlies on their early season. Adams State stays in search of their first conference win on the road, as they head to Colorado Springs to face the Mountain Lions on Sunday.

The first half stayed quiet until the 14th and 15th minute of the matchup, when the Roadrunners came marching into Adams State territory to put up three consecutive shots. Grizzlies held off MSU's offense for the rest for the rest of the half, which stayed scoreless into halftime. Goalkeeper, Corri Zaiger added four saves to her career as she kept the Roadrunners scoreless after 12 shot attempts.

It would be Adam's State's Peyton Billingham who made the first move on the Grizzlies' side of the ball, firing a laser in attempts to put the Grizzlies on the board first. With Billingham's shot being saved, MSU would capitalize off a rebound from a free kick to score the first goal of the matchup. Zoe Moses fired a shot on goal in the 61st minute to retaliate but came up short. The Roadrunners would score three more to earn their third conference win of the season.

Grizzly defense stayed on their toes, having various blocks throughout the matchup and coming out with ten saves on the day. MSU had a total of 38 shots with 14 on goal, outnumbering ASU's two on goal.

The Adams State Women's soccer team continue their road ventures into a Sunday matchup against UCCS kicking off at noon.
