Grizzlies Hit the Road For Week 5 of Conference Play

Colorado Springs, Denver, Colo. - The Adams State Men's soccer team hits the road this weekend to kick off week five of conference play against UC Colorado Springs on Friday, then Regis on Sunday. The Grizzlies open up this week 1-8-1, 1-6-1 RMAC after falling twice at home to Colorado Christian, then in overtime against Metro State.

Keeping Up With ASU Men's Soccer
The Grizzlies are headed north this weekend after going 1-3 in their last four games played at home. Fresh off their first win of the season, the Adams State Men's soccer team fell short on a point deficit against Colorado Christian that lasted just over 88 minutes. The Grizzlies looked to rebound against Metro State two days later in a matchup that looked like another shut-out loss, but would roll into overtime on a last-minute, game saving shot by Benji Rogers in the 88th to put the Grizzlies back into contention. After two minutes into overtime, it would be the Roadrunner offense to penetrate ASU territory and score to take home the win. Grizzlies look to overcome the losses and earn their first road win of the season this weekend.

Scouting UC. Colorado Springs
The Mountain Lions went 1-1 in week four, putting down Fort Lewis then falling to Colorado Mesa at home to put them at 3-7-1 on the season (2-6 RMAC). Mountain Lions would outshoot both teams last weekend but came up short against the Mavericks. UCCS sits at ninth place in the RMAC and stand behind Alex VonHolle, Liam McGuire, and Jack Mills.

Last Meeting
The Grizzlies met UC Colorado Springs at home early this October in what would end in the first Adams State win this season. The Mountain Lions would come out with an explosive offense, outshooting Adams State 18-8 with ten on goal. Grizzlies would persersere and score twice in the first half, followed by an own goal in the 65th minute. UCCS put up two but left the ASU soccer field with another road loss tacked onto the season. Dylan Udero and Pablo Fernandez led the Grizzlies to victory and look for it again on the road this weekend.

Scouting Regis
The Rangers kick off week five of conference play at home this weekend, after a successful week four against Colorado Mesa and Fort Lewis. Regis now holds a four-game win streak and stand at second in the RMAC. The team leads the RMAC in shots, and junior forward Parker Klein sits at second for individual goals and points. Freshman forward, Pascal von Matthey stands at second in the conference for shots on goal. The Rangers look for another successful weekend at home as they await CSU-Pueblo, and Adams State.

Last Meeting
The Grizzlies are on a deficit against the Rangers, unable to put them down in the last four meetings, beginning in 2017. The two teams would face off on the ASU Soccer Field to kick off week three of conference play early this October. Regis came in hot, scoring twice within twenty minutes of the matchup. Abdoulie Danso would fire a laser in the 26th that saw the back of the net to put the Grizzlies back into contention. Later in the second half, an own goal against Adams State, and two late Ranger scores would finally  end the match and put the Grizzlies down at home 5-1.

Adams State opens up week five of conference play in Colorado Springs to face the mountain lions for a Friday night matchup beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Grizzlies will face off against the Rangers for a Sunday afternoon showdown, starting at 3:00 p.m.
