ALAMOSA, Colo. – The 2019 Adams State Grizzlies Football team prepares to host non-conference opponent Angelo State this Saturday, November 2
nd at 1 p.m. at Rex Stadium in their second to last home game of the season. The Grizzlies are coming off of their fourth loss of the season, dropping their game against CSU-Pueblo last Saturday 52-12. They come into Saturday with a record of 4-4 overall.
Last Saturday against CSU-Pueblo, the Grizzlies came out with a full head of steam on offense, gaining over 300 yards of offense in the first half. The problem was the turnovers that were converted into points for the Thunderwolves, as they converted two
John Buksa first half interceptions into touchdowns, coming away with five picks in the first half alone. The Grizzlies will look to clean up offensive opportunities this Saturday and hopefully convert them into points of their own
The recurring offensive star for the Grizzlies is receiver
Tariq Bitson, who despite the loss still racked up over 200 yards receiving. He has been virtually uncoverable for every opponent the Grizzlies have played this year and leads the nation in receiving. Look for him to get opportunities this Saturday as he usually does. He and the Grizzlies hope that another big game can lead them to a victory on Saturday.
The defense for the Grizzlies did their part in the first half, limiting the damage off of the turnovers and keeping the Grizzlies in the ballgame. The second half was a different story, but this can be as a result of them being on the field for so long and getting fatigued.
Alani Pututau and
Rob Luckett both registered timely sacks in the loss, and have been a dynamic duo on the inside and outside of the pass rush. They will hope to go to work this weekend against a pass happy Angelo State offense that racked up 65 points last week against UT-Permian Basin.
The game this weekend is sponsored by Alamosa County, and will kick off at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon from Rex Stadium. Live stream and live stats will be available through the Adams State Athletics website as ASUGrizzlies.com.
