ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State University Football team walked off the field after being defeated by the Colorado School of Mines Saturday evening with their heads held high. The score may not have been indicative of the actual performance put together on the field, but nonetheless, the final score read 41-10, Orediggers. The Grizzlies will look to clean up the mistakes that led to their downfall last Saturday, and earn their first win of the season this Saturday, September 14
th against the New Mexico Highlands University Cowboys at Rex Stadium.
Wide receiver
Tariq Bitson was a bright spot for the Grizzlies last weekend, as he reeled in 10 passes for 182 yards, 69 of them coming on his touchdown catch and run in the second half. He received RMAC Offensive Player of the Week nominations, and will look to duplicate a similar performance this Saturday versus Highlands.
The Grizzly defense showed numerous times on Saturday, why they should be taken seriously moving forward. They opened up the game last Saturday with a tough goal line stand early in the first quarter, which provided a huge spark moving forward. Mines constantly struggled throughout the game to throw the ball, as the Grizzly secondary proved tough. The pass rush was stout, as most of Mines' offense came on the run. They will look to step up their run defense against a Highlands squad that likes to run the football.
Kickoff Saturday is set for 1:00 MT from Rex Stadium. The game is sponsored by SLV Health and Wellness. Live stream will be available through the ASU Grizzlies Athletics website. Come out and support your gridiron Grizzlies!
