MSOC | Grizzlies lose a close one to Metropolitan State

ALAMOSA, Colo. – It was the Adams State Grizzlies' day to honor the seniors who have represented the Grizzlies so well over their years at Adams State. After a beautiful ceremony put on by the coaches, the game was set to begin.

The Grizzlies came out with energy like no other, both the bench and the players on the field came ready to play. The Grizzlies and the Roadrunners were both playing hard and aggressive. For a while I didn't seem as if anyone would score, but eventually Aaron Biggerstaff from Metro State would find th back of the net with an assist from Bryson Chiles. This was in the 26th minute and as the Grizzlies fought hard to answer, it wasn't until the 37th minute that they did. Josh Garcia, one of the seven Grizzlies who were honored on senior night, scored from a penalty kick. This would tie the score at 1.

The next half came and the Grizzlies were applying pressure. Neither sides were going to allow a goal. It wasn't until the last 21 minutes when the Grizzlies were permanently down a player due to receiving his second yellow card in the game. This momentum shift allowed the Roadrunners a chance to score. In the 70th minute Aidan Bates scored with an assist from Alec Nguyen and Bryson Chiles. This goal would make the score 2-1, and the score would remain like that for the rest of the game. The Grizzlies ultimately didn't get the win they wanted for senior night, but they should be extremely proud of the way they played.

"Absolutely gutted for the boys today. We have been close to our best the last three games but small mistakes have cost us dearly in all three games," Head Coach Brett Bentley said. "We look forward to finishing strong and sending out our seniors with two good results next weekend."

Up next, the Grizzlies will be on the road as they play South Dakota Mines and Regis University. These games will be on October 29th and October 31st.
