FB| Grizzlies season ends with loss at #9 Colo. Mines

GOLDEN, Colo.—The Adams State University Grizzly football season came to an end on Saturday afternoon as they were shutout by the No. 9 Colorado School of Mines Orediggers 63-0.

The Orediggers secured at least a share of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship.

The Grizzlies allowed two touchdowns in the first quarter despite a strip-sack and fumble recovery by Tae'Aviion Gray. Adams State was able to get 82 yards of total offense in the quarter.

After failing to convert on a fourth down in the first quarter the Grizzlies had a trick play with Bryce Hampton completing a pass for 17 yards to keep the opening drive of the second frame alive before they gave the ball over on drives.

The Orediggers continued to grow their lead in the second quarter when they capped off a six-play 53-yard drive to make the score 21-0. They added another touchdown to lead 28-0.
The Orediggers capitalized on two third quarter interceptions to grow their lead by 21 and led 49-0 going into the final quarter.

Adams State got deep into the Oredigger defensive zone with three minutes remaining in the game, however, a wide-open pass to Quinton Garrett on fourth down sealed the shutout for Colorado School of Mines.

Adams State finished the game going 16-of-38 on pass attempts for 178 yards wand had 36 carries for 100 yards.

Adams State ends the season with a 1-10 overall record and 1-8 in the RMAC. They finish ninth in the conference.
