PUEBLO, Colo.—After an exciting four-hit performance on Friday night, Adams State freshman
Mike Bathauer kept the offensive pistons firing as he notched three home runs in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader with CSU Pueblo on Saturday afternoon at Rawlings Field. The Grizzlies swept the ThunderWolves 11-7 and 4-3 and are on a three-game winning streak.
Game 1: Adams State 11, CSU Pueblo 7
After allowing the ThunderWolves to get early momentum with a three-RBI double in the bottom of the first, Bathauer nailed a solo home run to left field to cut into the deficit.
CSU Pueblo then scored two runs in the bottom of the second including a solo home run and a single to right-center to make the score 5-1.
Adams State rallied and scored seven straight runs including four in the third and three in the fourth. The third inning saw Kolen Bleggi nail a two-run home run to left field with
Nathan Hield on the base paths. Bathauer followed his second dinger, this time a two-run jack with
Cedrick Reynaud on base.
The fourth inning saw
Orlando Romero homer to center field before Colton Dixon drove
Matt Bathauer home and Bleggi drove in Dixon.
The ThunderWolves pulled closer as they scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the Grizzly lead to 8-7.
Mike Bathauer got the run back in the top of the seventh as he hit a solo shot to left-center.
Matt Bathauer then homered to center field for two more runs.
Jamison Fuentes earned his first win of the season (1-2) as he tossed 4.1 innings, surrendering eight hits and five runs while striking out five and allowing one walk.
Troy Gutbub tossed 1.1 innings allowing two runs on two hits and one walk with a strikeout before
Alfredo Villa came in and earned a four-out save without yielding a single hit.
Game 2: Adams State 4, CSU Pueblo 3
In the second game, CSU Pueblo scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning, however, Adams State came back from the deficit and scored four unanswered for the win.
An error by the catcher allowed the first run to score in the fourth inning before Reynaud had a two-run triple in the top of the fifth. Dixon earned the final RBI in the game as he singled in the sixth.
Villa earned the win and improving to 3-1 on the season as he tossed a complete game giving up three unearned runs on eight hits and eight strikeouts.

Adams State, now 5-14 on the season and 4-11 in the RMAC, will close out their four-game series with the ThunderWolves with a nine-inning affair on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
The Grizzlies return home next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with a four-game series against Colorado Christian. Friday's nine-inning game is set to start at 3:00 p.m.
