GOLDEN, Colo.— The Adams State University softball team opened up a four-game series at Colorado School of Mines on Friday. The Grizzlies dropped both games at the newly renovated Joe Coors Jr. Field by scores of 10-1 and 9-0.
Game 1: Colorado School of Mines 10, Adams State 1 (6 innings)
Two Grizzly errors combined with three hits allowed the Orediggers to take a 3-0 lead after three innings of work.
Adams State broke through the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning after Kyrah Arcibald tripled down the third base line before
Jade Garbiso pushed her across with a ground out.
After holding the Orediggers scoreless until the sixth inning, Adams State surrendered three runs in the bottom of the fifth and four in the sixth inning for the walk off win.
Adams State was held hitless except two hits by Archibald.
Jade Garbiso was tabbed with the loss as she surrendered seven hits for six runs, five earned, and two walks. She struck out five of the 26 batters she faced.
Game 2: Colorado School of Mines 9, Adams State 0 (5 innings)
The Orediggers jumped on Adams State and starting pitcher
Taylor Sandoval as they grabbed six hits and used errors to take a 6-0 lead after one before adding two in the second inning. After two innings the Grizzlies were charged with four errors.
The Orediggers scored a single run in the bottom of the fourth inning to close out the game.
Adams State tallied four hits in the game including two doubles and two walks.

The Grizzlies and Orediggers will meet back up on Saturday with a doubleheader scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
