LAS VEGAS, N.M.—The New Mexico Highlands Cowboys completed a four-game sweep of the Adams State University baseball team on Saturday and Sunday.
Game 1 : New Mexico Highlands 14, Adams State 7
The Grizzlies started off the game hot scoring two runs in the top of the first inning with a double by Kolten Bleggi which scored a run and a run batted in single by Mike Bathaeur. The Cowboys responded with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Kolten Bleggi responded with a three-run homerun to left field in the top of the second inning. The Cowboys answered by scoring another run in the bottom of the second inning. The Grizzlies responded with a sacrifice fly by
Jace Wytulka to add onto the lead. The Cowboys tied the game up in the bottom of the third inning by scoring four runs. The Grizzlies took the lead in the fourth inning with a single by
Paul Giglio. The Cowboys ran away with the game by scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Game 2: New Mexico Highlands 16, Adams State 2
The Grizzlies started off the game by scoring a run in the top of the first inning. The Cowboys came out hot and scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and eight runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Grizzlies scored another run with a sacrifice fly by
Mike Bathauer in the top of the third inning. The Cowboys then scored three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Game 3: New Mexico Highlands 9, Adams State 7
The Cowboys scored first by putting two runs up in the bottom of the first inning. The Grizzlies put up a run in the top of the second inning. The Grizzlies scored three runs in the top of the third inning which included a two-run homerun by
Nathan Hield and a solo homerun by
Mike Bathauer. The Cowboys answered by putting up three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Grizzlies added another run in the top of the sixth inning with another solo homerun by
Mike Bathauer. The Cowboys then added two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead 7-5. The Grizzlies tied up the game in the top of the seventh inning with a two-run homerun by Kolten Bleggi. The Cowboys then took back the lead with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.
