Box Score ALAMOSA, Colo. — The Adam State University football team was on the wrong end of a 35-17 final score on Saturday night inside Rex Stadium as the Grizzlies offense could not find enough gaps to score.
Western New Mexico struck paydirt first as they scored at the 5:28 mark of the first quarter thanks to a one-yard rushing touchdown before
Elijah Harper was able to break through for a 91-yard kickoff return touchdown on the ensuing kick.
With the score tied at seven, the Mustangs rallied off 14 points, including a 43 yard touchdown pass in the first followed by a 10 yard pass to take a 21-7 lead with 8:34 left in the first half.
Adams Stated then scored on a safety as a bad snap flew over the head of the Mustang quarterback on the first play of their second possession in the second half.
WNMU kept the pace as they added another touchdown to start the fourth quarter and led 28-9. The Grizzles then scored a 10-yard touchdown followed by a two-point conversion to close out the scoring for the Grizzlies.
The Mustangs added one more touchdown for good measure to finish the game with the win.
