XC| Grizzlies send small contingent to UCCS Open

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The Grizzlies continue to inch closer toward championship season. The next race they will line up for, will be the Rocky Mountain Athletic Championship (RMAC). The Grizzlies showed great efforts on both the men and women's side on Friday night as they traveled to Colorado Springs for the 2022 UCCS Open.
 
Amalia Dorion stuck to the lead pack throughout the race. Dorion consistently put-up solid efforts through the women's 6k course as she worked her way to the finish line earing eighth place with a time of 23:19.57. The next Grizzly to cross the line was Erin Stonebarger as she crossed the line in 15th place with a time of 23:48.38. Two Grizzlies worked together towards the finish as Lieke Hoogsteen finished in 56th place (25.57.10) followed by Mikaela Jonsson in 57th place (25:58.64).
 
On the men's side Davonte Jett-Reynolds ran a strategic race as he made the right moves at the right time to gaged himself to the finish line of the men's 8k race. Jett-Reynolds worked his way to the front of the pack earning him a second-place finish with a time of 25:50.36. The next Grizzly to cross the line was Mikah Paiz as he latched on to the back end of the pack and earned himself a fourth-place finish with a time of 26:01.47, followed by Kidus Begashaw who finished fifth with a time of 26:04.30. Aron Orar gave his best efforts as he finished 11th (26.23.83) followed by Elijah De La Cerda 14th (26.26.87). Armando Ortiz competed as well as he finished 17th (26:36.06) followed by Kailer Smith in 19th (26.39.86).
 
Up Next, the Grizzlies will travel to Durango, Colorado to compete at the Hill Crest Gulf Course on November 5th.
