ALAMOSA, Colo. – Hosting its second-consecutive ranked team in as many weeks, No. 21 Colorado School of Mines proved too good as it rolled to an 84-10 win over Adams State, dropping the Grizzlies to 0-3 on the season.
 
Shamman Luani scored the lone touchdown for ASU on a one-yard scamper to begin the 2^nd quarter, but CSM quarterback John Matocha threw for 211 yards and four touchdowns and completed 16 of his 20 attempts as the Orediggers picked up their first win of the year.
 
ASU quarter Mark Salazar threw for 112 yards, competing 8-of-17 with one pick.
 
CSM took a 14-3 lead after the 1st quarter, and answered ASU's seven-point 2nd quarter with 28 points of its own to put the game away early.
 
The Oredigger defense dug in after the half, shutting out the Grizzlies offense the rest of the way while their offense scored 21 points in both the 3^rd and 4^th quarters.
 
Luani netted 21 yards on eight carries to lead ASU while Daylen Boddie tallied 15 carries to lead the Grizzlies in touches.
 
Aaron Johnson caught two balls for 43 yards, while Elijah Harper's four catches paced the ASU receivers.
 
Josh Johnston led the Oredigger receivers with a pair of scores and 91 yards on four receptions, while teammate Max McLeod caught a touchdown pass as part of his five catches for 85 yards.
 
CSM's ground game saw Michael Zeman reach the end zone thrice as the Orediggers scored seven times via the run.
 
The Grizzlies will travel to Fort Lewis next week in search of their first win of the 2022 season, with kickoff set for 12 noon.
