MLAX | Grizzles No Match for No. 12 Colorado Mesa

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Host and 12th-ranked Colorado Mesa showed why it's one of the elite teams in the nation after running away from Adams State this afternoon in a 27-4 decision, ASU's final RMAC match of the season.

The Mavericks outscored the Grizzlies 18-3 in the first half and added eight more in the third period to build an insurmountable 26-4 edge, tallying a late score in the fourth for the game's final tally.

Daniell Joy and Dawson Balabanoff scored consecutive goals in the first period to trim CMU's lead to just 3-2 early, but the hosts scored the next nine goals to take charge of the contest with a 12-2 lead.

Dalton Summers made ASU's deficit a single-digit one at the 7:31 mark of the second, only to have the Mavs answer with an 8-0 run to build its lead to 20-3.

Kris Owens tallied ASU's final score at the 12:50 mark in the third, but it was too little, too late in the 27-4 final.

The hosts enjoyed a hearty 70-22 advantage in shots and a 40-9 edge in shots on goal.

Next up for ASU is the RMAC Tournament Semifinal, set for Friday, May 5.
