Fremont, Neb. – Adams State Grizzly Swimmers traveled to Midland University last week to swim in the 2024 Warrior Invitational from Thursday until Saturday. The Adams State University men's team took fourth place and the women's team got seventh over the three days of competition.
Men's Highlights
The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team, consisting of Landon Brewer, Ricky Santiago, Brayden Stalcup, and Mohamed Abujiba, clocked a commendable 1:28.02, securing second place.
In individual events, Landon Brewer continued to shine, placing strongly in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.51 seconds in the finals. His teammate, Mohamed Abujiba, followed closely with a 22.03-second performance. Dylan Jones also made his mark, advancing to the finals in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:17.20.
The men's 800-yard freestyle relay team rounded out the meet with a third-place finish, posting a time of 7:30.06.
Women's Highlights
On the women's side, the 200-yard medley relay team of Brenna Otteman, Brianna Uhrig, Emily Markle, and Jocelyn Jones delivered a strong effort, finishing at 1:58.88.
Jocelyn Jones emerged as a key performer, particularly in the 50-yard freestyle, where she clocked a quick 25.15 seconds to place seventh in the championship final.
Freshman Genevieve Lang and Junior Kennedy Larson displayed promising potential in the grueling 500-yard freestyle and 800-yard freestyle relay events, helping the team secure valuable points. Emily Markle also impressed in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:14.85, earning her a spot in the championship final, where she took eighth.
Adams State will take a significant break, before heading to Colorado College on Jan. 17, for the Colorado Classic.
