LOS LUNAS, N.M. – Playing in five games over three days, the Adams State University softball team faced stiff competition at the South Central Region Crossover Tournament held in Los Lunas, N.M.
Western N.M. 9, Adams State 3
The opening game saw the Grizzlies jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as
Makayla Veglia doubled home
Raegan Johnson and
Kaia Bradford to make the score 2-0.
Western New Mexico scored four runs before Bradford scored on a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth to make the score at the time 4-3.
The Mustangs then capitalized on four hits to score five runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the games away.
In the game the Grizzlies had three runs, two by Bradford, on three hits, two by Veglia while surrendering nine runs on ten hits including four doubles.

Aubree Davis was tabbed with the loss as she pitched the complete game.
West Texas A&M 18, Adams State 0 (5 inn.)
A 12-run bottom of the fourth run was enough to run rule the Grizzlies but they had surrendered six runs in the first three innings to seal the game.
The Lady Buffs had their 18 runs on 19 hits and three Grizzly defensive errors.
Adams State 6, Simon Fraser 2
After giving up single runs in the first and second innings, the Grizzly bats finally came alive and four runs scored in the bottom of the fourth including a two-run single from
Ellie Heiser.
Veglia hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning before Bradford wrapped up the game with an RBI single in the sixth.
In the game the game Davis earned the win by surrendering the two runs on nine hits and four walks. Offensively for the Grizzlies, Adams State had nine hits and two walks.
Eastern New Mexico 19, Adams State 1 (5 inn.)
The Greyhounds scored the first 16 runs of the game before Adams State scored a single run in the bottom of the fourth. The lone run was a single as the Grizzlies mustered four in the game. Their downfall in the game was five defensive errors.
