Adams State Falls in Game One Against Colorado Christian

Lakewood, Colorado — In the first game of a four-game series against Colorado Christian the Grizzlies drop game one by a score of 8-4. This loss drops the Grizzlies to a record of 7-16(3-2 RMAC).

Cesar Loma started the game for the Grizzlies on the mound. Loma threw three innings, giving up 7 hits, 5 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Today's loss drops Loma to 0-6 on the mound after the Colorado Christian offense jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead after the first inning, which limited Loma's ability to go later into today's game. For Colorado Christian Z. Hill threw, keeping the Grizzly bats at bay the entire time he was on the mound, only surrendering one run. The one major highlight for the Grizzly pitching staff was Justin Arellano, who came out of the bullpen and chucked 3 ⅓ scoreless innings, allowing the Grizzly offense to come back into the game late. Arellano has been a huge piece for the Grizzly bullpen the past few weeks as he has not accumulated 7 innings of work while only surrendering a single run all year.

Offensively, the Grizzlies struggled to get the timely hit. A story that, unfortunately, they are too familiar with this season. The Grizzly offense again left nine runners on base as they had many opportunities to put up more runs. The one thing the offense did do well today was stack up the extra-base hits, collecting 6 doubles and one homerun. The offense was led by Josiah Hall, who went two for five, with a homerun, and Phil Carter, who went two for three with two doubles.

The Grizzlies did play extremely well defensively as usual, as they did not commit an error in today's game. The Adams State defense has been a staple all year and has been something that the Grizzlies have leaned on to keep them in close games late.

Looking towards tomorrow, the Grizzlies will look to bounce back as they take on Colorado Christian again in a Saturday doubleheader. The games will be held at All-Star Park in Lakewood, Colorado with the first game of the doubleheader starting at 12 PM MST, with the second game following shortly after.
