Grizzlies Add Talented Incoming Class Ahead of 2025 Season

Alamosa, Colo. – Coming off back-to-back national tournament appearances, the Adams State women's basketball program continues to build momentum with the addition of a strong and versatile incoming class for the 2025 season.

The group features a mix of high school standouts and experienced transfers, each bringing a combination of athletic success and academic excellence. With backgrounds that span multiple states and competitive levels, the newest Grizzlies are expected to make an immediate impact as the program looks to continue its upward trajectory on the national stage.

Below is a closer look at the newest additions to the Adams State roster.

Brya Brooklyn
Los Angeles | Orangewood Academy | Daytona State College
Brya comes to Alamosa from Daytona State after a standout high school career at Orangewood Academy, where she helped lead her team to a 2022 conference title and a trip to the Open Division state championship. She earned second-team all-conference honors that same year, picked up the student-athlete award, and was an all-honors student throughout.

Kya Blakley
Tulsa, Oklahoma | Central High School
Kya is a natural scorer, surpassing the 1,000-point mark in high school. Kya was named to the NJCAA Region 2 All-Region Team. Her sophomore year at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College she averaged 14.2 ppg and helped her team to 21 wins. She also graduated in the top 10 of her class.

Mia Ervin
Las Vegas | Spring Valley High School
Mia's résumé speaks for itself, first-team 5A all-conference, team MVP, female athlete of the year, scholar-athlete, and part of the International Baccalaureate program. She also scored over 1,000 points in her career and carried a GPA above 3.5.

Jaden Ferris
Fort Washakie, Wyoming | Wyoming Indian High School | Haskell Indian Nations University, Rocky Mountain College
Jaden is a multi-sport athlete with championship experience—three state titles in basketball, one in cross-country, and a relay title in track. She's a 4.0 student, valedictorian, National Honor Society member, and has already made two NAIA national tournament appearances. She's as well-rounded as they come.

Jada Hodges
Denver | Regis Jesuit High School
Jada graduated from Regis Jesuit in Denver and brings a solid foundation and a ton of upside. She's been putting in the work and is ready to take the next step on the court. She brings a rare level of athleticism that will immediately impact both our press and half court defense. Her ability to disrupt offense and create chaos will impact our defense for the better.

Ashiian Hunter
Mesa, Arizona | Mesa High School | Mesa Community College
Ash is a proven competitor, a three-time East Valley Player of the Year in high school and a first-team all-conference selection at Mesa Community College. She was also named third-team All-America and has a reputation for getting it done on both ends of the floor.

Brooklyn Long
Edmond, Oklahoma | Edmond Santa Fe High School | Oklahoma Christian University
Brooklyn brings college experience and academic consistency, earning Lone Star Conference honor roll recognition three times. She was a first-team all-conference player in high school and was named to the VYPE Top 100. Seasoned veteran who brings invaluable depth and toughness to the team. Her experience shows in the way she competes and how she embraces physical play.

Amaya Martinez
Shawnee, Oklahoma | Shawnee High School | Northeastern Oklahoma A&M
Amaya is a National Honor Society member who joins the program after two years at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. A standout defender and elite rim protector who will instantly elevate our teams defense and toughness.

Kaleigh Toenjes
Chandler, Arizona | Chandler Online Academy | Fort Scott Community College, Pratt Community College
Kaleigh graduated early from Chandler Online Academy and has competed in flag football at the college level. She's making the jump to basketball here at Adams State

"I am incredibly excited about our new additions. This is without a doubt the most athletic and probably the longest team we've had from top to bottom. The length, speed, and versatility across the board give us a chance to play faster, defend at a higher level, and create more matchup problems. The energy this group will bring will raise the bar, and I can't wait to see how it all comes together," said Head Coach Mario Caetano

The Grizzlies will begin their 2025-26 season at the D2CCA Tipoff Classic in St. Joseph, Missouri on October 31.
