Grizzlies Win Series Finale to Secure Series Win Against CCU

ALAMOSA, Colorado — During the Grizzlies Sunday afternoon series finale game against Colorado Christian University, the Grizzlies win 14-2 to secure their first conference series win of the season. With the Grizzlies taking the series with their Sunday afternoon win, Adams State moves to a record of 10-16(5-3 RMAC). 

Diving into today's Grizzly win, the Grizzlies offense alongside the outstanding individual performance of Grizzly starter Joseph Marek led to their 12 run win. Marek truly led the way for the Grizzlies as he threw a complete game only allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, while striking out 7. Today's start was Marek's best start of the season as he collected his third win of the season moving his overall record to 3-2 on the season. 

With Marek's outstanding performance on the mound, the Grizzly offense was able to slowly take over today's game scoring six in the second inning, one in the third, three in the fourth, and four in the sixth, totaling 14 runs. Leading the way on the offensive end for the Grizzlies was their entire lineup as every single person except one person scored, while every single person except one person also collected a hit. The best individual performances for the Grizzlies were Andrew Carrillo, Gunner Martinez, and Austin Yi. For Carrillo, he finished the day 2 for 3 with a hit by pitch and 3 runs scored; for Martinez, he finished 2 for 4 with a home run, 6 RBIs, and one run scored; for Yi, he finished 2 for 2 with 2 walks, an RBI and 2 runs. Overall the Grizzlies collected 13 hits, walked 8 times, and collected 3 hit by pitches for a total of 24 base runners. 

Looking forward to the Grizzlies next games, they will play the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs for their next four-game series. The series against UCCS will be in Alamosa, Colorado giving the Grizzlies their second straight home series. The series against UCCS will begin next Friday, March 20th at 3 PM MST. The Grizzlies will then play a double header on Saturday, with the final game of the series being played next Sunday. Come out to support the Grizzlies next weekend as they look to continue their winning streak and continue a great start to the RMAC regular season.
