Grizzlies Drop Series Opener Against CSU Pueblo 10-6

ALAMOSA, COLORADO — In the Grizzlies Friday night game they fell just short against CSU Pueblo by a final score of 10-6. The Grizzly loss puts them at a record of 10-33(5-20 RMAC) with three games remaining in the weekend series against the ThunderWolves.

In today's game, Adams State showed offensive life but couldn't overcome a pivotal middle-inning stretch, falling 10–6 to Colorado State-Pueblo despite matching the ThunderWolves with 10 hits.

The Grizzlies' offense had its moments, highlighted by Josh Parks, who delivered one of his best performances of the season. The outfielder went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, providing a spark in the middle of the lineup. Ryan Vandever added a key swing of his own with a three-run homer, briefly shifting momentum and keeping Adams State within striking distance.

Osaias Hinojosa chipped in with a two-hit day, while Ayden Tauscher drove in a run as the Grizzlies found ways to put pressure on Pueblo pitching early. Through the first six innings, Adams State stayed competitive, capitalizing on run-scoring opportunities without needing a big inning.

On the bases, Christian Altamirano created additional pressure, swiping two bags and consistently challenging the defense. His aggressiveness helped generate scoring chances, even as the offense struggled to fully capitalize.

The turning point came in the middle innings when Adams State's pitching staff ran into trouble. Starter Austin Delgado kept things close through four innings, allowing three runs while limiting hard contact. However, the ThunderWolves broke through against the bullpen, scoring four runs off Julian Garza in 2 2/3 innings to take control of the game.

Defensively, the Grizzlies didn't do themselves favors, committing two errors that extended innings and contributed to Pueblo's ability to build separation. Those extra opportunities proved costly in a game where both teams finished with identical hit totals.

Adams State continued to battle late, but Pueblo's bullpen shut down any chance of a comeback, holding the Grizzlies scoreless over a critical stretch before a late run crossed in the ninth.

Despite the loss, the offensive production stands out as a positive for Adams State. Multiple players delivered quality at-bats, and the lineup showed the ability to generate runs without relying solely on big innings. Moving forward, tightening up execution on the mound and defensively will be key as the Grizzlies look to turn competitive performances into wins.

The Grizzlies will look to bounce back tomorrow as they gear up for their Senior Day doubleheader in which the eight Grizzly Seniors will be highlighted for their contributions to the Adams State Program. Tomorrow's games will begin at noon MST here again in Alamosa, Colorado at the home of the Grizzlies, with game two following 30 minutes after the completion of game one. Come out and support the Grizzlies tomorrow as they gear up to honor their Seniors and win a couple of home games in their final home series of the year.
