Grizzlies Sweep Chadron State on Senior Day

Alamosa, Colo. – Adams State Grizzlies sent their seniors out in style Saturday, sweeping Chadron State Eagles in a doubleheader, 4-3 and 3-2, on Senior Day.

With Denae Ojeda, Ali Davis, Devree Godinez, Emily Sauvageau and Kaylee Eyl honored before first pitch, the Grizzlies delivered one of their most complete performances of the season.

Adams State wasted no time in game one, putting up three runs in the opening inning to take early control. Chadron State chipped away to tie the game, but the Grizzlies found a way in extras, scoring the game-winning run off of a Raegan Johnson single in the bottom of the ninth for a 4-3 walk-off victory.

Isabel Rodriguez led the offense in the opener, going 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Emily Sauvageau added two hits.

In the circle, Aubree Davis went six innings, allowing three runs, before Aryana Munoz came in to close the door and secure the win.

Game two brought more resilience from the Grizzlies. After falling behind 2-0 in the third inning, Adams State answered immediately with two runs in the bottom half before pushing across the go-ahead run from a Aubree Davis sac fly in the fifth to take the 3-2 lead.

Emily Sauvageau paced the offense, scoring twice and recording a triple, while Isabel Rodriguez added two hits and an RBI.

In the circle, Celie Page got the start, while Payton Torres came in relief for 4.0 innings to help hold Chadron State to two runs and lock down the win.

For a senior class that has helped shape the program, Saturday served as a fitting sendoff, a walk-off win, a gritty comeback, and a sweep on their home field.
