Grizzlies 2026 Season Wraps Up With Doubleheader Split with Regis

DENVER, Colorado — In the Grizzlies final two games of the season, they played two insane games that ultimately finished in a split for the Grizzlies. In game one, the Grizzlies outlasted Regis in a slugfest game that finished with a final score of 23-22 in favor of the Grizzlies. In game two, the Grizzlies fell 10-3 in a game that could have been much closer. After a split in their final two games, the Grizzlies finished the 2026 season with a record of 13-27(8-24 RMAC), just missing the playoffs.

Game 1

In game one, the Grizzlies outlasted Regis 23–22 in a back-and-forth marathon defined by explosive innings, relentless offense, and just enough timely execution to come out on top.

For Adams State, the difference came in the late innings, where an already potent lineup reached another level. Trailing deep into the game, the Grizzlies erupted for 15 combined runs in the seventh and eighth innings, turning what looked like a loss into a dramatic comeback.

Leading the charge was Seth Reker, who delivered a huge performance with five RBIs, including a home run, and came through in key moments as the game tightened. Ryan Vandever added a three-hit day with a homer and three RBIs of his own, while Ayden Tauscher set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 4-for-7 with three runs and three RBIs. Osaias Hinojosa also played a pivotal two-way role, driving in four runs at the plate while also starting on the mound in a game where outs were at a premium.

The Grizzlies finished with 19 hits and nine walks, consistently applying pressure and taking advantage of Regis miscues. Five errors by the Rangers proved costly, extending innings and opening the door for Adams State's biggest rallies.

Regis matched Adams State blow for blow, racking up 23 hits and launching multiple home runs. Even after Adams State's late surge, the Rangers answered with a seven-run eighth inning to keep the outcome in doubt until the final frame.

On the mound, it was a grind for both sides. Adams State used four pitchers, and while none escaped unscathed, Ethan Bertke was credited with the win after navigating a critical stretch in the middle innings despite giving up runs in a chaotic appearance.

In the end, the story wasn't about pitching lines—it was about resilience. Every time Regis surged, Adams State responded. Every deficit felt temporary. And when the decisive moments arrived late, the Grizzlies delivered their biggest swings of the day. Today's game won't go down as a clean game or a quiet one. But it will be remembered as one of the most explosive—and hard-earned—wins of Adams State's season.

Game 2

Game two of the day was a much different game for the Grizzlies as they were only able to scratch 3 runs across over six innings, falling to Regis 10-3.

Although the Grizzlies only scored 3 runs in the second game of the day, they did manage 10 hits. Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, they couldn't string together enough timely offense to keep the scoring similar to game one, in which they scored 23.

Offensively, Adams State showed signs of life at the plate. Osaias Hinojosa led the way with a 2-for-3 day, while Christian Altamirano, Ayden Tauscher, and Josh Parks each chipped in hits. The biggest swing came from Austin Yi, who drove in two runs, accounting for the bulk of the Grizzlies' production.

Adams State left six runners on base and managed just one walk, limiting their ability to build sustained pressure. Several innings ended just as rallies were starting to form, a stark contrast to the relentless offense they showed earlier in the day.

On the mound, the Grizzlies ran into trouble early. Starter Jacob Janata allowed seven runs in 2 2/3 innings. Regis wasted no time, collecting 10 hits against Janata and scoring in multiple early frames to seize control.

Relievers Dylan Schaefer and Justin Wicketts combined to settle things somewhat, but Regis had already done the damage.

Defensively and situationally, the difference was clear. Regis turned two double plays and drew five walks, consistently creating opportunities, while Adams State struggled to capitalize in key moments. After combining for 45 runs in the previous matchup, this one followed a more traditional script—early scoring, controlled pitching, and fewer chances to rally late.

For the Grizzlies, their season has come to an end. Falling just a game and a half out of the playoffs, the Grizzlies' ups and downs throughout the season led to them missing the playoffs for a third straight year. Although missing the playoffs stings, the Grizzlies bring back a strong core that will look to build off of the 2026 season, making the playoffs next year and making it three trips in four years.
