Before ASU: Played for Seward County CC...  In his final season at SCCC Nelson hit .350 with one homerun, three triples, and 13 doubles... Had a .429 on-base percentage... He had 217 at bats and 41 RBIs.

Prep: Played for Artesia HS under Clay Foster... He was a first team All-State pitcher in 2010... He also played football in HS.

Academics: Is majoring in K-12 education... Graduated from HS in 2010 with a 3.3 GPA... Then went to Seward County CC for three years before coming to ASU.

Off the Field: Born 06/23/91... Son of Rhonda and Gary Nelson... Brother to Jordan... Father, Gary played baseball for the University of Arizona... Uncle played for Ranger College...
