As a Redshirt Freshman (2010): Played in eight games, making seven starts at linebacker... Finished the season with 46 total tackles, including 18 stops... Led the team with 8.5 total tackles, which were for a combined 32 yards... Was second on the squad in sacks with 3.5 (24 yds.)... Also had two pass breakups, a forced fumble and a blocked kick... Made a career-high nine tackles at Western New Mexico (Oct. 16)... Finished with eight tackles, including a 2.5-TFL game a week later against Fort Lewis... Had earlier had eight tackles, including a career-high five solos at Nebarska-Kearney (Oct. 2)... Also had 2.0 TFL's a sack, his forced fumble and his blocked kick against the Lopers... Was named as a M.A.D (Make a Difference) Player of the Week three times throughout the season.
As a Freshman (2009): Redshirt season... Selected by his teammates as the Defensive Scout Team Player of the Year... Tabbed by the coaching staff as the squad's Defensive Scout Team Player of the Week for his efforts in preperation for the Aug. 27 season-opener against Dixie State (Utah).
Prep: Award-winning linebacker for the Tim McBurney coached Basha HS Bears of Chandler, Ariz… Was named as the team’s Defensive MVP as a senior in 2008 after recording 164 tackles, four tackles and three forced fumbles… Earned second team all-region and honorable mention all-state honors… Helped the team advance to the first round of the playoffs… The Bears made the state semifinals in 2007, his junior campaign… Played both outside and inside linebacker positions… Also saw time as a fullback… Also competed in wrestling and track during his prep career.
Academics: Is majoring in Sports Management... Posted a 3.0 GPA in his first year at Adams State... Named to the A.D.'s Honor Roll after both the spring and fall semesters in 2010... Graduated from Basha HS in 2009 with a 3.83 GPA and was on the honor roll… Also scored a 27 on the ACT.
Off the Field: Born 09/09/90… Son of Jim Flannery and Karen Wood… Brother to five siblings, Erin (31), Bridgette (29), Kyle (24), Elizabeth (8) and Caitlin (6)… Jim played football at Abilene Christian University… Enjoys playing video games and working out… Favorite movie is Book of Eli… Favorite food is steak… Favorite professional sports team is the Baltimore Ravens.
