Adams State Softball Head Coach Dervin Taylor has announced that Carly DeLorenzo has joined the program as an assistant coach.
2016 is DeLorenzo's first season as  Taylor's Assistant coach for the Grizzlies. Graduating from Adams in 2014 with a Bachelors in Mathematics  with an emphasis in Secondary Education, Carly is now in her second year teaching at Sangre de Cristo K-12 (Mosca, Colo.) as a Middle School Math Teacher. Last year she was an assistant on the girls varsity basketball team, varsity track team and middle school track team. DeLorenzo played softball four years for Coach Taylor from 2010-2014. She was a four-year starter in the outfield.Â
The DeLorenzo name has definitely left it's mark on Adams State. Carly's father, Â Phillip DeLorenzo, an All-American Football player, her mother, Patricia DeLorenzo (Babkiewich), an All-American Track runner, her sister Roxanne Vigil an ASU honors graduate got injured her sophomore in softball, and her brother, Rocco DeLorenzo, an All-American Football Player.
Carly received her honors on the softball field with receiving Second Team All-Conference her freshman year, then Second Team All-Region, First Team All-Conference, and All-Tournament Team during the RMAC regional tournament, all during her senior year. She also holds three RMAC records consisting of All-Career stolen bases record, 136; Single-Season Stolen Bases Record, 60; and Most Stolen Bases in a single game, 6.Â
"I am so excited to be coaching with Dervin," noted Carly. "He taught me more than just softball when I played for him and I know I will learn even more from him and the girls while coaching by his side."
