Adams State University

Megan Valente is entering her first season as the Assistant Softball Coach at Adams State University. 

Originally from Colorado Springs, Colo., Megan was a 2006 graduate of Widefield High School where she was a four-year varsity tennis player and three-year varsity softball player. While at Widefield she played middle infield and was leadoff batter. Her junior year she helped her team make their first State Championship run in school history. She also played three years of competitive club softball with Colorado Springs Aqua Sox. Megan then attended Otero Junior College on a softball scholarship. Two weeks before attending OJC at the USSA World Series she partly tore her hamstring. After rehabbing she did play second base her sophomore season but decided to hang up her cleats after that due to injuries. 

Megan started coaching after college as a volunteer assistant for a club team in Colorado Springs and a men’s fast pitch team after moving to California. In 2017, she accepted the Head Coach position at Mercy High School in Red Bluff, Calif. She took on a program that hadn’t had a winning season in years. Her first year there they finished second in league with a 5-3 league record and a 6-6 record overall. 

In the fall of 2017, Megan moved back to Colorado and became an assistant coach for Legend High School. Legend ended the season at 18-8 and won the Class 5A State Championship. 

In spring 2018 Megan returned as head coach at Mercy High School. The Warriors became League Champions finishing 6-2 in league and 11-8 overall. They had their first playoff win in school history against Tulelake. 

In fall 2019 Megan accepted her first college coaching job as the Assistant Coach at College of the Redwoods in Eureka, Calif. Her first season as an assistant she helped lead the team to a third place finish in the Golden Valley Conference. In Megan’s second season the team was off to a great start and just had their first league games when COVID-19 hit and the season had to be canceled.

Before coaching softball Megan worked as a Multi-Media Journalist at some of the top television stations in Colorado and California. In her free time, she still likes to produce videos and pictures for team social media pages. She also loves reality television and can tell you anything you want to know about any show on Bravo. As a huge animal lover she lives for her dog Mikey and her cat Petunia.

Megan graduated with her Associate of Arts Degree from Otero Junior College, a certificate in Broadcasting and is currently working to finish her bachelor’s degree from Humboldt State University.
