Kyle Masterson

Kyle Masterson is a 2015 (BA - Exercise Science) and 2017 (MA - Coaching) graduate of Adams State University. In Coach Masterson’s time as an Adams State athlete the Grizzlies won four NCAA Cross Country Titles, one Outdoor Track and Field Championship, and one Indoor Track and Field Championship. After college he spent a number of years competing as a professional distance runner. Kyle finished 16th at the 2018 USATF Track and Field 10,000m Championship, was an Olympic Trials Qualifier in the Marathon in 2020, and placed 7th at the 50 kilometer World Championships in Romania as a member of Team USA. Kyle also recorded the 3rd fastest time ever at the 50km distance in 2020.

Kyle started his coaching career in 2017 at Trinidad State College. He also took the title of Assistant Athletic Director at TSC during that time. At Trinidad State Kyle coached athletes to 120 All-American awards, two NJCAA records, eleven NJCAA Individual Championships, twelve Region Championships, and two NJCAA Team Championships; the most recent of which was the 2023 NJCAA Men’s Cross Country title. Both titles are the only NJCAA Championships ever won by Trinidad State.

Kyle is married to his wife Lauren, who herself is an accomplished athlete and coach. They have a daughter, Gentry, and currently reside in Alamosa.
