Joe Toenjes

Joe Toenjes enters his first year as a member of the Adams State Athletic Family. Winter 2024 will be his first season as Head Athletic Trainer. 

He most recently spent eight years at Ottawa University, an NAIA institution in Arizona, where he built the athletic training program from the ground up.

Before his time at Ottawa, Toenjes spent seven seasons with the Atlanta Braves, working with the minor league and spring training teams. His career also includes serving as Head Athletic Trainer at Newbury College for two years. Additionally, he contributed to the fifth season of Athletes Unlimited Volleyball.

Toenjes earned his Bachelor's in Athletic Training from the University of Central Florida in 2007, followed by a Master’s in Leadership from Ottawa University in 2020. Outside of his professional life, he is celebrating 25 years of marriage to his wife, Deirdre. Together, they have two children: a son, Christopher, and a daughter, Kaleigh.
