Jordan Mellott enters his third season (2020-21) as the assistant for the Adams State Women's basketball program.
Coach Mellott came to Adams State University with Head Coach Jaime Green after being her assistant coach during the 2017-2018 season at the Har-Ber in Springdale, Arkansas.
Prior to joining Coach Green in Arkansas, Coach Mellott served as the head coach at Leavenworth High School from 2014-2017. He lead the Lady Pioneers Women’s Basketball team to an overall record of 64-11. The Lady Pioneers went to the Kansas Class 5A State Semi-Finals three years in a row winning the State Championship in 2015, Runner-Up in 2016 and a 3rd place finish in 2017. Coach Mellott was selected as the Kansas All-Star coach for the Missouri-Kansas All-Star game by the Great Kansas City Basketball Coaches Association. He also received the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2015. In his three years as the Leavenworth Women’s Basketball Head Coach he graduated thirteen young women and nine of them went on to play at the collegiate level
As an assistant coach at Leavenworth High School from 2012-2014, he coached under former collegiate coach Derek Zeck and helped lead the team to two State Appearances winning the State Championship in 2014.
A native of Kansas, Coach Mellott received his Bachelors in Elementary Education and Special Education from Benedictine College and received his M. Ed. in Education, School, and Counseling Psychology by completing the Positive Coaching program through the University of Missouri.
Coach Mellott, his wife Sally, and most recently their son Griffin born in May of 2019 are very excited to be living in the San Luis Valley area.
