Mariana DiGiovanni

Mariana DiGiovanni formerly an Adrian College (Mich.) graduate and standout midfielder for the Bulldogs is in her fourth year as Adams State University’s head women’s lacrosse coach.

A four-year starter, captain and SAAC rep for the Bulldogs, DiGiovanni scored 101 goals while assisting on 35 others in her collegiate career at Adrian, which started a women’s lacrosse program in 2008, her freshman year.

She helped the program quickly develop into a power as the Bulldogs went a combined 49-15 in their first four years, posting a 14-3 mark in 2010 and a 16-5 mark this past spring.  The Bulldogs also won the Midwest Women’s Lacrosse Conference’s regular season and tournament titles in 2011 and earned a bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament for the first time in school-history.

In 2008, DiGiovanni was named as the Bulldogs’ MVP.  She also received the squad’s Coaches’ Award in 2011 and served as the team’s representative on Adrian’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee for all four years of her career.

DiGiovanni is no stranger to coaching as she guided the U-15 Michigan Girls Select Team in tournaments in New York during the summer of 2010 and has worked the Nike Lacrosse Camp and several Adrian coaching and player summer camps.

A native of Troy, Mich., DiGiovanni had played high school lacrosse for the Troy Colts and was a first team all-state and all-region selection as a senior in 2007.  She was also named as the team’s MVP and as the Colt of the Year.

Academically, DiGiovanni holds a BA in Physical Education from Adrian College and a MA in Sports Administration from Adams State University.  She was also a recipient of the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges Award for her prowess in academics, leadership and volunteerism.

Her parents Susan and Mariano DiGiovanni reside in Troy.  Her brother Ambrose is a four-year letter winner in Men’s Soccer at Adrian College.
