Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Grizzlies Upset No. 24 Regis, 1-0

Women's soccer has now won three of their past four matches

DENVER (October 26, 2014) —The Adams State University Grizzlies women's' soccer team was victorious today in their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) match against the No. 24 Regis University Rangers by a 1-0 margin. With the win, the Grizzlies improve their overall record to 4-10-2, 3-7-2 in RMAC play. The Rangers fall to 11-4-1, 9-3 in RMAC play with the loss. With the road win, Adams State snapped the Rangers four game winning.

ASU came out fired up and ready to upset the 24th ranked team in the nation. They did so on behalf of an aggressive offensive approach which was highlighted during the 22nd minute by Jenezza Sandoval who connected on a header goal off a Shelby McBain corner kick. This goal proved to be the only one of the match. ASU was outshot by a 9-8 margin in the first half but it was the Grizzlies who held onto the lead via Sandoval's header.

In the second half, the Rangers were unable to take advantage of the opportunities that were presented to them. They outshot the Grizzlies again in the second half, by an 8-2 margin but the Rangers were unable to get the ball past the defense of Grizzly goalkeeper Molly O'Connor, who once again had another clean sheet appearance--her second in a row. In 90 minutes of play, O'Connor had two saves with no goals allowed. With the win, the Grizzlies continue their late season push for an appearance in the RMAC Tournament.

Adams State University will host Colorado Christian University on Oct. 31, on Senior Day.
