ALAMOSA, Colo. (November 1, 2014) --Â The Adams State University Grizzlies women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw in their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) match vs the Colorado Christian Cougars as goals proved hard to come by on Senior Day. With yesterday's result, Adams State's record now stands at 4-10-3, 3-7-3 in RMAC play. Colorado Christian record stands at 3-11-3, 0-11-2 RMAC.
ASU's offense struggled to get much of anything going in the form of a strike on goal however the defensive back line played strong in yesterday's match. Goalkeeper
Molly O'Connor continued her strong play and was a key factor in the 0-0 draw. With a strong defensive unit in front of her, O'Connor collected one save in 110:00 minutes of action.
ASU had six shots in the first half highlighted by a header opportunity by
Bethany Hightower just 2:50 into the match that went wide. In hindsight, it proved to be one of the best opportunities the Grizzlies had at scoring a goal against the Cougars.
Alex Sanderson had a shot on goal saved by CCU goalkeeper Haley Lowe at the 13:35 mark in the first half as well.
To finish the game, the Grizzlies outshot the Cougars 15-4 with seven shots on target. Large credit for yesterday's draw goes to Lowe along with the Cougar defensive back line. With her remarkable seven saves in the contest Lowe proved to be the "x-factor" in the match.
