Last time out for ASUIt was a grand opening for the Grizzlies who ultimately fell to the University of New Mexico, 62-50, at The Pit. In front of a sold-out crowd, Adams State strutted out to a 13-6 lead before the first media timeout as
Shakir Smith sparked the offense early in his first game with the program. The junior finished with a game-high 21 points. Eventually the lead slipped away but at game's end the Grizzlies held the Lobos to 27% (20-73) shooting from the field.
Michael Middlebrooks joined Smith in having a memorable debut with 16 rebounds, nine blocks, and six points off the bench.
