Difficult Finish For Volleyball On Senior Night Against Fort Lewis

Adams State secures seventh seed in upcoming RMAC Tournament

ALAMASO, Colo. (November 8, 2014)
-- The Adams State University Grizzlies women's volleyball team lost in their regular season finale this evening against fellow Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) foe, the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks, by a 3-0 match score on Senior Night. Adams State had previously beaten Fort Lewis during their October 17th meeting during a five set match. Since that meeting, ASU has gone 3-3 while FLC had gone 2-4 The Grizzlies record on the season now falls 14-13, 8-10 in RMAC contests with today's loss.
 
Leah Nelson, the lone senior on this year's squad, will be allowed the opportunity to don the black and green at least one more game as the Grizzlies have secured the seventh seed in the upcoming RMAC Tournament with today's results. In the loss to FLC, Nelson had six kills, two blocks, and one dig in her last performance at Plachy Hall.
 
The Grizzlies lost tonight via set scores of 20-25, 23-25, and 19-25. FLC dominated every faucet of the game as the offensive unit of the Skyhawks was ablaze due to the duo of Ashely Wells and Madi Mickle. Together the two totaled 23 kills.  For the Grizzlies, Lindsey Stindt led the team with 13 kills while hitting .345 at the net. Gabrielle Timmen led the team with 11 digs, while Allie Miller had 30 assists to mark a season high. Miller continued to serve in place of Katelyn Schwartz who was injured in yesterday's match-up versus Colorado Mesa University.
 
As previously noted, Adams State University will participate in this year's RMAC Tournament based on today's results by securing the seventh seed. The Grizzlies finish the regular season with a 6-4 record within the confines of Plachy Hall while displaying an 8-9 record on the road.
 
The Grizzlies now prep for a Nov. 11 meeting with the Colorado School of Mines at 7:00 p.m.
