It marks the second year in a row that ASU has started their conference slate at 0-3.

About The Mountaineers
Western State is coming off its first RMAC win of the season against Western New Mexico University. In the 63-59 win, four players finished in double figures led by 14 apiece from Dominique Wright, Alex Eddy, and Mason Biddle. On the season, Biddle is the go-to option on offense and averages 17.8 points per game. That scoring output ranks 8th amongst all conference players. The Mountaineers enter Alamosa with a 2-6, 1-3 RMAC record and are under the direction of first year head coach Bradd Schafer. Schafer takes over the program after spending four seasons leading the Black Hills State University men's basketball program.

About The Mavericks
Colorado Mesa stands at 8-2 overall and 3-1 in RMAC contests with their lone conference loss coming against Chadron State College on Dec. 5. The Mavericks were most recently on the court against New Mexico Highlands University on Dec. 13. Ryan Stephan paced their efforts with 29 points and six rebounds in the 84-73 win. Through 10 games, the 6-foot-10 center has torched opponents and currently averages 24 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. His 24 ppg. ranks first in the RMAC. Andy Shantz is in his second season as head coach and 17th season overall with the program. Shantz earned his master's degree from Adams State in 2005. The Mavericks are currently receiving votes in the latest NABC Coaches Poll

Last We Met
The Grizzlies and Mountaineers last met in Alamosa on 3/1/14 to close out regular season play. Adams State walked away with a 95-84 win with Juwan Buchanan posting 18 points and six rebounds. ASU swept Western State in both meetings during 2013-14. The Mavericks and Grizzlies split their two contests a season ago but it was Adams State who took the final meeting, 87-82, from Plachy Hall on 2/28/14. That conference tilt saw six Grizzlies eclipse 10+ points led by Buchanan's 15.
