Alamosa, Colo. (September 21, 2014) - The Adams State University Grizzlies women's soccer team lost today at home versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) foe Regis University by a score of 1-0. The Rangers handed the Grizzlies their fifth loss of the season, moving their record to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in RMAC play. Regis now moves to 4-1-1, and 2-0 in the RMAC.
The Grizzlies played a strong game against the Rangers, edging out Regis on the shot advantage, 10-7, as well as corner kicks by a 3-1 margin. The Grizzlies had four shots in the first half, and six in the second half compared to Regis' two shots in the first and five in the second. The narrative of game truly was a battle of equal possession for both squads. The game was ultimately decided by Regis' freshman defender Maggie Saras who scored the unassisted game-winning goal in the 56
th minute of play.
Despite being held scoreless both
Alex Sanderson and
Dezirae Armijo each accounted for two shots on goal. Keeper
Molly O'Connor collected four saves on the day with one goal allowed.
Adams State University will play next against the Metropolitan State University of Denver Roadrunners on Sept. 26
th at the ASU soccer field. That match is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start time.
